Many people ask me, “Why do you spend so much time on your quit smoking business?”

For me it’s not just a business. I’ve been there, I started smoking at 12 years old. I know all too well how hard it is to stop smoking.

I haven’t told many people this before because it’s a very painful memory for me.

Back in 2017, I met Linda, a 72-year-old woman who had just been diagnosed with lung cancer.

She was terrified of not having much time left and wanted desperately to quit smoking, in hopes to prolong her life for any amount of time. Even with the diagnosis, she still couldn’t stop herself from smoking.

Linda called every week to see how my quit smoking project was coming along, she understood the concept behind it and thought that it might be the program that could work for her. I did everything I could to speed up the process.

Three weeks went by, and I didn’t hear from Linda, I called her but there was no answer. I called her every day for weeks, but I never heard from her again.

My heart broke knowing that she probably didn’t make it.

I work such long hours because I know there are others out there just like Linda, struggling to quit smoking and just can’t do it on their own.

In 2018, a very special young lady was testing our app, she wasn’t trying to stop smoking, she was merely testing the functionality of my app to make sure it worked as it should.

At one of our weekly check-ins, she laughed and told me that she had accidentally quit smoking while testing my app. We had a good laugh, and that’s when I knew my app truly was the great idea, that I hoped it would be.

During my years of research, I found three very important facts:

-       One person dies every six seconds from tobacco use

-       Only 9% can quit successfully using the cold-turkey method

-       70% of smokers are actively trying to quit smoking.

This is why, I do what I do.
